Soft, symmetrical lighting compliments beauty products and produces a pleasing aesthetic. Diffusers are useful tools to imploy gradient lighting techniques, characterizing this soft look. By rendering a mask with a back-lit exposure, we can build digital environments for our product photography to sit in. Let me run you through my workphlo for beauty care lighting, in speedlight product photography.

Edit: Around 5 minutes, I recommend an exposure of the label that isn't really lit — I used this in combination with other layers on lighten mode to fulfill the exposure.
Nice work buddy. You make things so uncomplicated they are a pleasure to watch.
Keep those videos coming!
very helpful, would u please guide about if we capture in dark room what are the camera settings and do we use light reflector and diffuser in dark setting as well?
It's a nice end result…but this is far from a basic packshot which you'd do for 10-20 eur/dollars / image 😛
These videos are really well done. I’ve been a commercial product retoucher in NYC since 1999, and have been shooting since 2007. Always learn something new from your videos! Thanks for posting them. Great job.
Awesome content as always!
I would like to start practicing product photography on a low budget. Since this video is quite old, I was thinking to but a pair of Godox TT600 which cost the same as the Yongnuo YN560IV but have HSS as a plus. What do you think, is it a good buy ?
Keep up the good work !!!!
17 people jelous..
Look great but would be good to see how you make the final image using masks an your post production.
Great!
really helpful tutorial sir thanks a million , adding u on facebook to be friends
Really cool info!
Thanks man!
Hi man! I have a question: how can you put your plexiglass base on your stand? Do you use an adaptor, don't you? Could you put the link here? I can't find it in your gear list.
which speedlite modell ?
Wow i've been struggling with speedlites & products but this is extremely helpful for small studio. I couldn't imagine shooting products before with cheap gears, but it seems possible now.
Your mask idea is a stroke of genius. Great vid!
thank you sir, excellent tutorial 🙂
We want the way you edit plz !
it would be better if you could show the editing on system part.
Thank you!
Great work!
With what do u connect your speedlight to the strip box?
Who cares about this when it is better to do this in 3D.
Once again – impressive work Dustin!
Great effect from simple lighting, thanks for sharing.
Well done for your explanation.
Nice work! Fellow photographer and YouTuber here….I think I'll subscribe!
One thing I love from your videos is the confidence on your talking. You make me feel anyone can do it.
Good stuff!
What a striking image! Never would have considered lighting those small circles on the caps! Amazing as always, keep up the great work Dustin!
I love your videos, could you do a Coke or Pepsi can with the one light approach? Thanks!
Yet another stellar video. Thanks man. 🙂
loved the video but I would like to see a little bit more of your post production work !
I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS http://WWW.CARMINETAVERNA.COM
So how did you generate the green background? We watch these videos for a bit of 'know how' as you put it but you miss this vital part. Your videos are great as they are things we can do at home with limited kit, but so frustrating as you assume we are as skilled as PS as yourself. Keep them coming. Thanks
What's your camera
Who downvotes this? This guy is magic!
Yet another amazing vid dude. Thanks
Bro love your videos. Keep them coming!! Can't wait for the next one.
My job has absolutely nothing to do with any sort of photography but I'll be damned if I don't love your videos . Keep up the great work
Always a pleasure to see another of your videos pop up in my feed. How are you getting the changes to show on screen instantly with your masks applied though or have you edited in post and just showing us a screen shot? Hope you're well and as always look forward to your next video 👍
Awesome content man. What focal length do you typically shoot at?
Always great and informative ! Really helpfull.
before you trigger the photo you put you hand towards the camera, what is that for? you can see what i mean if you pause it at 3:34
