A initially learned photography as a kid shooting black & white then developing the photos in a dark room, that was a magical time and sparked my interest in photography. As I got older I dabbled in digital photography but wasn't until my kids were born that i really started to get an active interest back in it all.

Lol so are you trying to lower your competition by telling people dont follow what they want to do that its "to hard".
SOCIOLOGY???? AHAHAAHAHAHA
Thanks for your insight Eric… I think I'll stick to fixing elevators.
Talk about humility..
mann even watching your video for 8min makes my face hurt from all cringe expressions that i made and not even to mention what it would look like if i spend 2k to watch and listen to you in personal hahahha 😀 its like 2h workshop with 1h speaking and 1h looking like you are posing to look like smart guy hahahaha maaan stupidity today is realy on high levels xD
Very negative and contradicting.
Are you reselling "one of a kind" leather goods you found at the night market in Vietnam?
I like you and your camera reviews but your philosophy just doesn't hold water, sorry mate.
Unsubscribed. You used to inspire me to go out there and love the art of photography but now you've fell into a swell of ignorance. Eric Kim is a facade on the corner of artists who create for themselves and not others. Goodbye
You are a geneus! Preach on
You should, look at him ! He earns more than a pilot a year with a fuck*n Ricoh GR .
I should reconsider my career , buy a Ricoh GR , look for someone with an extra Leica M6 to give away and becoming a street photographer.
froknowsphoto,…! what a shit vid
So quit.
I'll try finding some cheap purses & sell them online for 10x the cost.
Great video and ideas to think about (despite all the negative comments). There are two groups of people that view this video, and that's very clear. I would like to say the biggest thing I took from this, is that photography will continue to be flooded, and that for someone who wants to pursue it, pursuing it in new and creative ways could bring the most satisfaction/success. Eric shared his way of thinking, and that doesn't mean everyone has to do the same thing, but put in your own "scheme" when money is involved. There are many many routes to take. For Eric he found education and photography product. It can be different for someone else, but use your time wisely.
I think you took a turn , let's say 4 to 3 months ago, I wish you keep doing well, but what brought you here it is not what you talking about, look in the mirror and get more focus.
It's doubtful children consider composure and the best exposure setting. You could put a Mark iii in the hands of a million children and I doubt seriously you'd get anything close to Bresson. I can't agree with that logic. Most of the folks who get serious on their mobile phones realize at some point that they need a dedicated camera also. The future that buries the print will likely be a new media. A hologram or something equally ridiculous yet totally possible given time. You're totally right about the middle road tho. You pretty much do only have two target markets. Dirt poor or extremely rich. You can be Robin Hood but unlike the character it won't make you famous.
Eric, man it looks like on this video you didn't need ads to annoy people 🙂
You are too concerned about money.
do you read comments? weird
Ya this video is bull shit, I'm pretty sure I've heard you say "a good camera doesn't make you a good photographer" or some shit like that. This means some kid with a camera he can't use will never create photos that a photographer will be able to create.
Unsubscribe.
If you want to become a successful photographer, become a bag manufacturer.
I decided to make a video response to this/you. Short, typed out comments just can't fully express everything, sometimes.
Pretentious … that's all he is.
I respect your transparency and honesty. Even though, I believe that some photography niches/gener are growing/ or will survive, and hopefully even prosper. Thanks again Eric.
You should read your comments! Looks like you are shooting your self in the foot!
I am bit confused by you now, Eric 🙂 even when trying really hard, I have a hard time to find out the real message or motivation behind this chatter (sorry for that). You sound kind of surreal now 🙂 … your old video were clear and enthusiastic, providing a lot of info on photography and history, especially that I have enjoyed, also on your blog. I have studied a lot, and big thanks for that 😉 … but your last videos are strange, either a poor remixes of far greater old ones on same topics, or stuff on your money, products, workshops blah blabla … and now this one :-O … I feel funny about this change 🙂 You rip apart a lot of great insights from your older posts. Of course it is probably hard to be pro, if not, everyone will be one. But why so bitter 🙂 anyway … whatever … 😉 bye, M.
Kim, you used to be an optimist now you're a pessimist…whats up with you?
the funny thing is, to me, you have an accent lol
Those bags look cool. Shame that I don't have the money
Good info Eric. What you say is upsetting to many but it's the harsh reality of the industry today. I do think there's a possibility that the mid range picks up again. The mid range market in Austin, Texas is strong.
