When should I use umbrella and when softbox? Or in general I can buy only one (softbox or umbrella) and use it?

Another brilliant video with everything explained to perfection again, with even more excellent examples.

I will often meter my first light to get the aperture I want, but then I will 'build' my other lights, reflectors and flags. I think as an hobbyist who only sells prints for the charity I have the luxury of being able to spend as long as I want to get the shot I want.

I do like using colour gels for my background, as I’m shooting still-lifes mainly I will have props as my background and something like a soft yellow and orange stacked can give new life to something like corn (maize I think it is in America).

You really need to do workshops if you don’t already. You just make great sense in a very fluid way.

    Yet another great video, Ed.

Thanks a lot, Ed. I enjoy your very clear instructions AND illustrative examples. Very succinct. You give specific light ratios for various lights, their positions and final photos to show the effect of each. I like the 3D graphics from different angles to illustrate the distance, angles to the subject. I've learned more flash portrait photography from you than from anyone else in the past two years. THANK YOU very much.
