Cheap Camera Review – Smallest Mirrorless Ever – The Samsung NX Mini

20 40

Here is another forgotten camera system that you can find very cheap on the used market. It is perfect for vloggers but can certainly be used for other types of photography as well. The small form factor makes it easy to always have with you.

Samsung cameras are either great or too quirky. Though sad to see Samsung exit the market. Never knew about the cine lens adaptor!

Great video…. Is it still a good idea to buy a Samsung NX Mini since Samsung drop the digital camera business and making Phone only?

I have one of these! But only have the 9mm (24.3mm equivalent) Its pretty nice and design seems futuristic (except for the low res display). Its the thinnest camera that has a 1" sensor with a flip screen + the 9mm pancake and I bought it for that pocketable novelty. This is the only 1" sensor camera with a lens that I can really slip into jeans pockets. And the 9mm doesn't have a lens cap to bulk it up even more.

Still shoots nicely, no IS on the 9mm lens but that's what warp stabilization is for. Awesome photos BTW!

i paid 200 bucks recently for an nx300 with the 18-55 OIS 3.5/5.6 lens. the pro is that the full 20 mp aps-c is in a 1 inch size body it really takes great well rounded photos good or better for its time. im happy to report that the sensor makes for such better performance in every regard ive been used to since my nikon D80 with better glass that I cant complain. the negatives are big though: there is one person who makes a smart adapter and one person who makes a focal reducer for the NX lens format: you can buy both for around 500 euro when they make them which is not sustainable. also the NX1 and NX500 got better firmware mods after samsung released them open source. Unfortunately not much is in dev. on the nx300 the buffer is too slow to use continuous shooting RAW. im not sure if the nx500 rectified this but i'd imagine they did. the battery life on the nx300 is not good but the batteries can be had for generic price.

if i were smarter right now id wait for a samsung NX500 to hit ebay with the 50-200 on a fuck it price of around 200 bucks and use it for that purpose if you need that range for something youll be happy.

the lenses have no reason to drop in price. which again sucks, unless you buy an NX and mount and an older manual lens from the adapters which you can buy and probably make yourself a science kit. you can use the dev menu to shoot without a lens on the body as well.

The Fuji XF1 and the Fuji X20 also had small sensors but they produced a much better outcome in my opinion. Actually the X20 is the reason why I ended up switching from Canon to Fuji. Anyway thanks for the review!

I took 10 digital compact cameras from 2001 to 2005 that range from 5 to 7 megapixels and all of them were capable of producing great images, and some won blind tests against a dslr with good glass. It’s all in the photographer and their content.

That's why it's called point and shoot camaras

@Mattias Burlng Do you think it worth to buy 17mm for around $200 now? It was original price at B&H. I only have a kit zoom (9-27) right now. I bought this kit (camera + lens) for $200 total brand new few years ago.

I've recently bought a Samsung NX300 to use with my old Canon fd mount and nikon F mount lenses. All I can say is that it produces nice image quality and sharp pictures. It is certainly a nice addition to my equipment, next to my Canon DSLR and all my film cameras

Still don't get how samsung cameras never caught on. Models like the nx1 where incredibly capable feature spec packed cameras that more then held their own with the rival cameras from companies that have been in the business forever. They could have been and should have been where Sony is now. Weird how things end up how they do. Shame.

The NX mini is no doubt an underrated camera. It first being marketed as beauty camera, which it failed of course, while Casio TR board the gravy train of that market segment.

I first bought this camera out of curiousity from a selfie loving girl who knows nothing about photography but selfie. She sold me at 400hkd (85USD) without knowing its potential. I was amazed after using it for a week.

Samsung NX Mini looks like a Nikon 1 J-series mirrorless digital camera. (Which is just as dead.;) My "fun/bring along" cameras are Ye Olde Fujifilm X30 and Canon PowerShot G15.
