Man your videos and landscape photography are stunning! Iām glad I just found your channel. Iām sticking around.
You live in such a beautiful and historic area of the world. You shoot it so well,it makes me want to spend months shooting in your back yard!….erm….garden? š
Somit April there is nobody out there?
Nigel you have a great eye for composition with another great photo to ad to your growing portfolio. Just bought a new Canon 70-200 f.4 non-IS. Love what I've shoot with it so far. I got to get out more.
I want to see & photograph Mont St-Michel. It's been shot a million times. So what? So has the Grand Canyon, which I just shot at sunrise for the first time.
I want to go to the horseshoe bend even though itās been photographed a lot! Great video Nigel.
great video sir! may i know the titles of the background songs?
One of the hardest things is finding a beautiful location that isn't popular.
With the rise in popularity of photography since the mid 2000's when DSLR's became affordable, and the social media generation,
lesser known locations become popular and the fairly well known ones become busy even on a weekday.
Even so, I want to go there myself and get my own photo!
Great vlog Nigel thinking of going to Anglesey to do some photography in a month or so and stay over for a couple of nights. Did you notice the seal pop its head up out of the sea at 7:36 just to the right of the tower?.
Difintely not! Your shot is only yours and it is unique, so why should you?
Schotland is my nr1 on the list, with lots of iconic places, but every single shot is mine š
There are so many talented photographers on youtube, but I really like your style, your video is very soothing and gives me a lot of inspirations for landscape photography, thank you.
Thanks Nigel, this location is on my bucket list for a trip to Wales later in the year. Just hoping I get some interesting weather (my Welsh friends say the weather is always 'interesting' in North Wales!) and the tides line up with sunrise/sunsets. One of the challenges with landscape photography while you're on holidays – you cannot wait for another week to get everything 'right' but take what you get. Thanks again for another fantastic video. Cheers, Ian
Agreed, and besides the light is always changing from day to day over the course of the year and the weather is never the same. Always a fun challenge to capture something creative as well. Great video =) more folks need to be less territorial and more focused on just capturing something and enjoying the process.
Iād love to be able to take photos like this. Great vlog and great shots šø
Iām enjoying the āphotographer in the compositionā explanations
I think all credit to you for lasting the full video without attempting to say Tŵr Mawr Lighthouse. Of course Iconic locations should be shot, as you are making your image, in the conditions of that day with your interpretation. Great images and use of what you were handed on the day. Iām sure this is where a certain Mr Johnson made his first video from, no idea what happened to him. A very enjoyable video.
I really enjoyed this video and you had some nice shots, as well as good luck with the weather conditions. I have to admit that I haven't been to llanddwyn island for a good few years. Why? Because it became popular. Having watched your video I need to rethink my approach. Thanks for sharing this.
Great video Nigel, and you touched on some interesting points of "why photograph the popular locations". I'm a fan of visiting both popular and remote locations to get an appreciation of both environments. One: to add amazing images to your portfolio and the other: to obtain that immense sense of achievement on remote/untouched shoots. Have to ask, did you leave old mate on the steps to add interest?
Enjoyed this Nigel, beautiful b&w image at 10:26
Stunning shot at 10:33 mate!
Morning Nige! Good video, great advice šš¼ up to 30k subs now š¤š¼
I like your videos. It's like you're telling a story.
Beautiful shots! The one #3 from the end with the yellow/red sky in the right corner, so beautiful. No I donĀ“t think one should avoid classic locations. ItĀ“s your shots of it.
Been here a couple of times. Opted for a very similar composition with those same foreground rocks on both occasions. What I found visiting this location twice is that even using a very similar composition, the difference in the conditions still created two very different images. The first had a very strong direct sunset glow, the second time the light dropped behind a low bank, as with your experience, but I got a nice image with some of the soft pink reflected light that resulted in a much cooler and moodier shot. Great stuff as always Nigel.
Really enjoyed this video. š
Great video well presented and well said. Love your photos been there once but got nothing worth talking about. Iāll go back with the vlog gear next time. Place I want and dream about is Iceland lol
Very enjoyable video Nigel. I really like the shot you're showing at the 10:34 mark but would crop 10-15% on the right side. The group of black rocks in the sea are way too dominant and are distracting the eye from all the more subtle details in the left part of the image. Shame for the beautiful light on the sea towards the right edge but I still feel it would improve the shot massively. Anyway, great video and very nice shots!
Cracking shots Nigel – I've never seen that location before! Looks amazing!
It always jars a little when I see a gaggle of photographers at a location fighting for the same spaces (obviously I'm one of them – ohh the hypocrisy!), but it's no reason not to go – as you say, just because it's been done a million times by other people, it's not been done by you! I do believe that it's impossible for 2 photographers to take exactly the same photo, so whatever you take, it'll be different.
Oh – you're not another landscape photography Volvo driver are you?!
Awesome images again Nigel, stunning location.
that montage at 6:58 was beautiful thnks for this!
Great episode Nigel. I'm even more excited now to visit when I travel over here is a couple of weeks
I'm really still only starting out on my landscape photography journey across the UK, therefore there are many 'classic' locations I intend to visit. After all there are so many variables that can affect your own take on the image you capture which will make it different to someone else. Following people like yourself on YT, provides a long list to choose from!! Oh and you came away with some really cracking images Nigel š
Great video, Nigel. Excellent photos too! Oh, and congrats to Kim on the tripod. She sounded really excited. As for locations, the coast of North Ireland, and the Faroe Islands seem interesting. As a side-note, I've never seen anyone do a video on the proper etiquette for relations with other photographers who are also on site at these iconic locations, vying for positions.
Terrible music, awesome content ššš».
Love the b&w image at 10:27
I would never be put off going to a classic location as my photography is generally for me and not for sale and the chances of the light being exactly the same every time is slim, especially in the UK. Where would I like to go? The Summer Isles, or any of the other of the Scottish islands, actually.
Fantastic video as always Nigel, and the clouds arrived for you on cue – just wonderful! ….and then I about fell off my chair! I won the tripod!!! Iām so excited! I never win anything! Thank you, thank you so much! š Iām very grateful š¤
Nigel, Skagen in Denmark might be worth your while…
Great vlog Nigel. I tend to agree, that there is no reason not to photograph popular locations. For aspiring photographers like me, it's great practice if nothing else. Look forward to your next post. Thanks.
What a great location. Excellent comentery.
Another great video Nigel, there are so many places I want to visit, the list would be a mile long!! š
Nice lesson about composition and light ! I really enjoyed this vlog thank you Nigel šš¼
