A initially learned photography as a kid shooting black & white then developing the photos in a dark room, that was a magical time and sparked my interest in photography. As I got older I dabbled in digital photography but wasn't until my kids were born that i really started to get an active interest back in it all.

Matt, greets from Russia! Great channel though but I wonder how many gear do you own? Overall watching your videos there are so many cameras and stuff like that I believe you've got a lot of it. Don't you mind show it all up one day. Obviously you rent a bunch but your personal pack this is I would be interested in.
Matt, can you still make all the entries available, maybe on Flickr or some similar site, even if they dont make the top 17?
@12:58 is in Nepal and Photo was by Ajay Maharjan 🙂
Yes is Hong Kong, 14:30
Believe you'd find that the text in the Balloon in Barca would actually be upside down were it a true image. I know this only because a mate of mine tried a similar shot using a raindrop but then had to spend a while in Photoshop cutting the circular image out and rotating it 180 deg :o)
To bad that street photography seems to be reduced to shots of the isolated individual in the urban landscape.
Great selection, Matt, but tell me, have you been ill again? You look and sound like your next clean shirt could be your last.
Congratulations to the winner, the pictures are awesome!
Thank you! 🙂
some nice shots; pretty hard to beat
The model shot is just that, it's not street photography but a planned fashion model shot, with the shallow depth of field to blur the street and cars in the background. I'm not sure how that can be considered "street" photography when it's cleary a planned model shot.
Very cool to make top 5 with an image I shot of myself just because! I actually forgot to include notes then tried to re-submit with notes to make it easier on you to determine the purpose. Cheers mate!
The quality of the shots entered becomes (almost) humbling….
…probably try my luck with travel this month anyways… its after all the first theme I am into.
With so many good shots, I don't anticipate winning, but I had hoped to get some feedback. I actually set out with a photo in mind for this round and really did "get my gear out". I had the shot of the flower sticking up from a crack in the street. One of the few shots that I planned and brought to reality. I was only disappointed with the depth of field. I didn't have a tripod and had to shoot too wide open.
Matt the image with a boy carry candle in hand and women with white and a red saree is from Nepal.
Matt, one of your finalists had 6 different photos featured on Macphun's site which I assume were all in the running for the comp. You probably weren't aware since you only see file names but I wish there was something that Macphun could have done to limit 3 entries per person. I guess everyone will just start signing up for multiple accounts and submit as many photos as they want for your comp…
thank you for nomination and choosing my image amongst top 5. it really is an honor!
Well done to everyone involved – brilliant selection and a great variety! Got to get in that top 5, man… =O
Wow great shots! I like the London one the most, just amazing.
