Nino’s Article:

Welcome back, everyone! I’ve been getting a ton of questions and I’m loving the interaction with all of you. The two most common questions I’m receiving are: How do I find Models? And… Who is getting paid, me or the model?

I think there is a misconception about what boudoir is. A lot of people think boudoir is simply bedroom pictures in lingerie or anyone. If that bedroom picture is of a model, then it is actually glamour photography. Boudoir is an empowering form of photography for everyday women, not models. A chance for them to get a new perception or perspective of themselves. Enjoy this video and see why it can be such an amazing and incredible form of photography.

Michael I would just like to say a big thank you, your videos are very far from "Idiot Videos" your videos are always well produced and your teaching second to none. I have learnt so much from you over the course of the last year. Keep up the good work 🙂

  7. Funny thing when you tell people you are a photographer…especially other dudes…one of the first thing they ask is "Do you shoot naked chicks?" Or "Do you do porn?" Simple minded folks. But when you start posting boudoir or glamour images, you get "Did you get a boner shooting that?" So stupid. I appreciate that you got in a little deep about what boudoir is really all about…capturing the sexiness and beauty that exists in every woman and giving the finger to the cultural and societal pressures of looking perfect (and not authentic). If you take photography seriously, and if you take glamour or boudoir seriously, you don't get aroused during sessions. If you are a professional, boudoir is work, and you care about making the client/model look as amazing as you possibly can, and being sexy, even erotic (pushing limits) without being crass or vulgar. The last thing on your mind is getting turned on!

Glamour photography nowadays: Smearing model skin so much that model looks like a mannequin. 😂

Hello Michael, Around 4:20 you search for the definition of Boudoir, you find it and say: nope, that's not it. Wel actualy it is, that defitition is correct.
For Boidoir Photography it's wrong, but for Boudoir it is 100% correct.

And for the rest, I love your video's! Keep up the good work! 😀

I am a new photographer. I have taken Michael's classes and soak up as much of his knowledge as I possibly can. As far as shooting, posing, and everything else he is my go to for it all. i know I sound like a fanboy, but if you look at his work, listen to what he has to say, and the praises he gets from his clients then you can see what I am talking about.

  15. Sharon Raizor says

I honestly thought Boudoir was a fad. I didn't know people were still doing it.

  16. Marc McConnell says

Great video Michael. Came here due to YouTube's recommendation and it didn't disappoint. Earned you an extra like, sub and alerts. Look forward to seeing your other idiot videos.

  18. Michaels Mom says

You are 100% correct Michael! I just finished my first in studio boudoir session yesterday and she posted on Facebook, “Well that was a great confidence boost and so sooooo much fun!!! Can't wait to see the pictures😍😍😍” that for me made it all worth it. Today from 11am-7pm I am hosting boudoir sessions, with hair and make up at a local hotel. I cannot wait. Thanks for your tips and help! (P.s love the name, that’s my sons name)

  19. VTPSTTU says

This distinction is interesting, and I've never heard someone make that distinction in that way. As an amateur, I'm just shooting whatever I can.

  20. Anthony says

I’ve always wanted to pursue a photography career with National Geographic. If you could make a video about how to obtain something like that I would love that! I also love doing boudoir shoots though, I even have NDA contracts for my clients for the event that they don’t want their images shared and the things we discuss involving the shoot are private. There are however some guys in my town who frown upon me for pursuing this though and think I’m a perv, but honestly I just love making people feel good about themselves. I myself have even had a client cry because of how beautiful she looked but always doubted herself. To me that’s a gift to bring that to light for someone and should definitely make everyone love themselves more. Excellent video!

6:20 that made me laugh lmao

  22. striker2681 says

Amazing videos Michael, just started seeing more of your videos and am impressed, was searching for a topic earlier in the week and one of your videos came up as a recommendation (possibly full frame or glass purchase). Personal experience is not much more of a hobby than anything else and possibly maybe making something on the side. Just not sure what I going to do yet.

  23. Rookzer says

I always had the wrong conception of boudoir photography. I didn't want to do it because I thought it was too risque. You put it in terms that make me want to do boudoir more often. I did newborn photography and was able to get the moms in the photos and got the same reaction so I know the feeling. Maybe I'll start offering boudoir shoots now. Thanks for the clarification.

  24. Jacob Dakshak says

I've been thinking about boudoir photography lately and my biggest challenge has always been getting the models I know to accept the idea, I'm a Nigerian and if you're not insta famous over here nobody will want to work with you. How do I go about starting something like that?

  25. AtTheEnd1000 says

I watch your videos and falling in love in this niche! Just enrolled in a boudoir class to see how it looks in real life!

  26. Deaqon James Photography says

The original definition is ABSOLUTELY the correct definition of BOUDOIR! Boudoir photography is done in bedrooms/sitting rooms. Any other location it becomes glamour.

  27. Ralph Raphael says

    DOPE!! YES Love this

  28. Juan Carlos Leiva Acuna says

Man, very nice of you to share your knowledge and teach a little bit of this amazing boudoir world. I'm a beginner in photography and yet defining my style. Thank you again.

In regards to video editing, the section where you ask "How do you find the models. Who gets $$$" I like how the text follows your hand movements. Is that something achivable through the editing software itself such as Final Cut or Premier, or does it require other software to go with it such as Motion or After Effects? Just starting out with videography and photography. Cheers!

  31. Bayuwega Madyasta says

You talk sense. I'll follow your channel.

  32. aushia worthen says

Hey Micheal, I am new to your channel. When did you take an interest Boudoir photography and how did you develop your style?

Also, what did you do to help your clients who are self conscious about their bodies? Can you give some tips on how to pose and edit plus size model pictures?

    Thanks in advance.

  33. Chico Mayor says

I'll stick to GTA and shoot hookers.

  38. Marco Jacobs says

Yet another great video, although I'm not sure that I agree with this one. Shooting for the end consumer or for commercial use has nothing to do with the genre.

  39. Zoran says

  41. Arefin Dipto says

I have a question, Did u intentionally (not) centerize your video or was it a mistake. Although to me its a flaw, maybe, i donno, But it is kind of keeping my attention in this video, as if i have seen similar centerized stuff on youtube ,the imperfection is different , thus gaining my attention……… I donno, love to hear what u have to say.

  42. TheJaimexxd says

    idiot video xd

  43. OriginalTharios says

Nothing…it's just amateur soft porn. None of its real. It's all about making a woman look like something she's not. And no, nobody has gold eyelids or whatever, but that's not the issue…it's what that gold eyeshadow is covering. That's always the issue. What is all the shine and glamour trying to hide or distract from? Same goes for men.

  44. raksh9 says

Just wanted to say that your talking head setup is great. Really nice lighting with soft subject key light and a dark background with soft practical. Do you do much grading on the talking head footage, like a vignette or masking to highlight the face? Is this shot with the A9?

  45. Hammad S says

Off topic but what if a model reaches out to the photographer to do work- who gets paid?

  46. IRG - Ricardo Galvão says

I am you new fan. Cheers from Brazil. happy new year.

  47. tom jens says

I don't think model's age/looks/professionalism is related when explaining glamour vs boudoir. It should be the difference in shooting style/setting style etc. I mean according to your logic if today you shoot random woman in boudoir shoot and next day you shoot "professional model in her 20s" in the exact same style and setting it won't be boudoir shot because it was not random woman, but professional model in her 20s?

Surely this distinction is between what type of person is being shot for glamour (often pro models) and for boudoir (often random women), but it has nothing to do to distinguishing how the styles differ.

  48. Carlos Arturo Velarde says

My big question is absolute must-haves to start a boudoir studio.
