Watch It’s Not About the Gear:
In this video, we shoot with an ultra-cheap point and shoot camera from Polaroid along with our Canon 1DX II. Our friend Justin (who is not a photographer) also gives both cameras a try.
Special thanks to our boy Justin Hergett for being our amateur. Justin is a masterful mix engineer:
Thanks to our model, Jasmine!

#photography #cheap camera challenge
you can watch our first go at this challenge here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4BLa7Bj2fU4
Dont forget the gorgeous model. 🙂
So what we've learnt is that gear doesn't matter and that beginners have less of a hit rate but can still get the occasional neat shot
The format is so confusing
Okay that add placement got you a subscriber. You guys are great love the energy!
she is killn' it. excellent modeling my dear.
“Professional”
If you do anymore of these again, please ALSO compile the photos at the end!!
Try this but with amateur model. Then we can really see how hard is to tell what model has to do
Can I just say — this model is incredible. I'm obsessed with the dark background + ladder + yellow sweater. Thanks for the inspiration!
It would have been helpful to have actual analysis of the differences instead of just showing us the shoot and the end result. I was hoping to find out how and why they were different, not just if they were different.
You guys should just make videos with this model teaching us how to pose
the model was awesome
Suggestion: You guys should explain why his shot is bad and what would you do to make it better.
i wish at the end they'd shown the photos side by side to compare properly
that amateur took all the photos waayyyyy much better than my friends do
the amateur guy's photos were definitely better imo. His had a lot more looseness, the pro side was just a lot of typical model poses.
The amateurs Polaroid pics were actually pretty good
Its not about the gear its about the vision. Different cameras suit certain styles. You just gotta find that camera that suits your style.
that sponsor was 😂👌
The cheaper camera's pics were not that bad. The camera is the camera. But, you have professional photographers taking pics with a cheap camera, so they composition, framing and look are going to be better than from an amateur's. Cool vid non the less.
Justin will make a good bf who takes ur photo on dates
Its all subjective… fight me
I'm really impressed by the photographers and all but tbh I have to say the model looks too good and that plays a major part too I guess. 😁 I'm not in love with her. I swear.
This model's killing it! She just got some new maerial for her instagram
Photograph someone less conventionally attractive that's how you can really prove yourself as a good photographer
The more you look at the photos youre just like…damn my instagram
This is an idea that has been done by many people. AND I LOVE IT. it is however sad that there was no analysis made of the actual pictures and we were just suppose to pause critique them ourselves and call it a day.
You guys should do a video where an amateur takes a picture and you recreate the picture based on the effect they were going for and tell them what you would do differently, stuff like the angle you would take it from, lighting etc.
dang, does anyone know the track @2:11 ? The video description says it's Derive by Theevs… but this is a remix
i spot a joywave hat, nice!
It doesn't matter if it's cheap or expensive – as long as you have a fire model with naturally curly hair, she can make it work.
Can't tell if I'm bad because I think the amateur's photos are decent or if he's doing well
I gras nid gul he'd kih jaid ou bah 😕
make me your model and watch me ruin your shots
Like most videos like this, I think it only proves that a pro can do a lot more with a lot less but professional gear goes a LONG way! With a professional model, in a professional studio pre-lit very well…. the amateurs stuff starts looking pretty decent (with the 1DX). Gear totally matters – a ton. That's why pros shoot with pro gear.
i really like 5:03 its good!!
Just want to let it be known that Daniel’s Sleepwalkers sweater is the only thing keeping me coming back
she's good at posin'
The model looks a little like Ariana grande . She’s beautiful in her own way but still
This video should be called: "Amateur vs. Pro Editing."
HA probably the best sponsored ad 😂
I thought there would be at least some technique discussion and comparing afterwards :/
okay but did anyone else think that the cheap photos are kinda more interesting than the ones made with the pro gear?
