“The Photographer is a chamber opera by composer Philip Glass that is based on the homicide trial of photographer Eadweard Muybridge. The opera is based on words drawn from the trial as well as Muybridge’s letters to his wife. Commissioned by the Holland Festival, the opera was first performed in 1982 at the Royal Palace in Amsterdam.”

Philip Vanguardista Glass
Don't think I will be ever the same after that last movement! Absolutely stunning.
Gadol!!

Just a superb piece of music, excellent in every way! Bravo.
I finally gained access to the score of The Photographer and made a MIDI simulation of the piece of incidental music missing from this recording: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ETnKlvwiZQ
how tranquil

Philip Glass at his height. Mystical, magical and transcendental.
I like "The Photogapher". 1982? It's opera remembe me soundtreak russian composer Sergey Khurekhin(he's deid in1995y.) ,- second part,-to Aleksey Balabanov "The Castle" film, 1995y.
Perfect!!! 🎧🎼
This is amazing.
Koyaanisqatsi!!!
Each time I hear this piece it feels fresh and enveloping and joyful. I love it.
Philip I've been loving your music since I was an art student in Toronto in the 70's Thank you!
This is a love or hate piece. You either get it or you don't. It's transcendental meditation set to music.
This piece is like a rampaging ice cream truck with an orchestra on top, running through balloons and fireworks and circus monkeys on acid trips.
In a GOOD way 😉
I was fortunate to see this in performance. The mesmerizing Act III music was accompanied by a stupefyingly staccato multi-media/slide show of Muybridge's work, transforming the photos into animations. Thrilling beyond belief.
this is gods music…….glass is not an atheist……..no great music was ever composed by an atheist………facts and love from vienna austria………where it all began,.,.haydn,.mozart,.beethoven,.schubert,.,.etc…………
3:17 its an ace attorney game
Awful, unbearable repetition.
I could play this every day for the rest of my life and never get tired of it. I've been playing it almost every day since 1983 and it never gets old- I must be insane.

I got kicked of Hopi black Mesa, or Bill W. said "third Mesa." A guy cam out and telepathically said,
"Get the heck outta here."
Driving the Tonto Plateau in 84, aimless, and so focused with the help of this P. Glass stuff.
Drove through Hopi black mesa at three AM listening to this. A guy came out, and telepathically said,
"Get the heck out of here."
That was 1984… With Bill R.
…fantastic…
