Holy shit, why so much Frequency Separation! My plastic model head at home looks more real than this.

I love Westcott lights and modifiers I will start with that. I also own quite a bit of Westcott equipment. I have to agree with what many have said in the comments though. Due to the amount of retouching done it doesn't really focus on the actual lighting. I would love to see the folks at Westcott consider redoing this marketing piece but utilize images that aren't overworked. Unless the point to this video was to show the photographer's rendition of what he likes.

I think someone here made a mistake. Those final images are way over processed and honestly I would be embarrassed if I sent something like that to a client. You pay premium price for Westcott and there is no way I would buy any of the equipment in this video if that was the result I got.

Why edit so much? No idea what the actual shot looked like….

The final result is a model that looks like plastic. What was the question again?

  10. Kenji Liu says

It's totally meaningless to tell you which one I prefer since you use too much dodge & burn for both photos, the skin is perfect but it is too perfect to be an un-natural look.

Kinda curious if the vid should show us the performance of the light modifier or how to use surface blur in Photoshop in an abusive way…
