How I Organize and Digitize My Thousands of Pictures || New Year's Decluttering Project

8 32

When the new year rolls around I have always had a “purge” project to do. I would go through a room or drawers or anything that needed to be removed from my house and that would be my project for the the next couple of months while it’s cold outside. But this year, I realized I didn’t have anything to purge! SO, that means I get to move onto the type of projects I have been needing (and wanting) to do 😀

This year’s project is organizing my thousands of pictures, digitizing those that aren’t, and trashing the hard copies so they aren’t taking up space in my house. I have about 15 tubs of photos, albums and other things to scan in so there is plenty to do. There are actually a few reasons I want them digital though.

1. Organized in digital format means I can access them when I need them.

2. Digital means they aren’t taking up space in my house.

3. I can now easily share them with friends and family.

4. They aren’t deteriorating in a storage closet somewhere.

So like I said, there are lots of reasons I want them digital. Hopefully this video helps you tackle a project of this or lets you see the light at the end of the purging tunnel so you can get onto the things you really want to do!

I just purged all of my photos (printed and on my Google drive) I had started to go all digital but with how slow my drive was I wasn't able to look at my photos enjoyably.. so now I'm in the process of getting them all organized into albums. One album for each of my four kids. One album of me and my husband then the miscellaneous in a photo storage container..wish me luck

I am going thru my photos this week, in albums and on the computer. It is amazing how many of them are blurry, and duplicates. I just ordered a scanning wand and I am going to get them all digital. I also purge my house yearly, so I can relate to what you have said in this video. You have lovely children; enjoy them cause they grow up fast! Oh, one more thing! Since I became a vegan a couple of years ago, I have not had a cold, or pneumonia since! No sickness at all! It is great!

Maybe just save the hard copies of the most important pictures in albums or boxes. You are going through all of them anyway to do the decision to scan, toss, whatever to pick out the most important pictures. And I've read you need to back them up in more than one place.

What happens if you lose your phone or the computer died? How will you be able to discard the hard copies because of that?
