If you are going to be using multiple lights, you need a light meter to adjust your lighting ratios. Looking at the small LCD on the back of the digital camera is NOT going to give you that information, information that you may want to use on future shoots. Studio lighting = light set by eye and meter.
That's it the light meter that is stuck in front of the model and usually blocking the person before the actual shoot.
