That ring flash has a setting to reduce the light output on one side of the flash. That way you get some modeling.
Hi Tony,
Thanks for this helpful video. I have a 40mm macro lens for my Nikon d3400 but I want to take a macro from distance especially for insects photography. Don't want to spend money on 150mm macro or other macro lenses. I want to use my 70-300mm as macro lens. So what will be a better choice: Extension tube or Macro filter (ring adopter). Thanks in advance.
so helpfully. thank you
Just bought it on amazon
Is there a way to prevent vignetting with a wide angle lens while using a ring flash ?
I just looked up your book, 2019-01-19, on Amazon and I noticed that it's from 2012.
Is there a more current version?
Is there even a need for a more current version?
I'm looking at getting a Canon M50 for a variety of reasons and I'm curious if there's enough difference in technique due to the hardware difference between a DSLR and a mirrorless.
Wow, this video was made so long ago, that Tony is only 15 years old, when they made this one! 😉
You are awesome. Ty
I like all your tutorials videos, I have a Canon T5
I just wanted to see the bumble bee…….
I dont hve any camara ;(
Your channel is better than a college education!
you exsplain what your doing to make it easy to follow you and you speak very clear and give an exsample for a visual learner i will be following you
You helped me ALOT with this video. Thanks!
Thanks for the video… but why you dont take a shot with diopter? so the result can more be compared between extension tube and the diopter
Nu
shrieeeks I wanted to wait with getting a flash but you semi-convinced me I probably need one for shooting insects.
Well, to be fair I've only had my macro lens for about 2 days, but already on day one I was thinking "Imma need VC, and maybe even a tripod :(".
Second day out I had better luck, but I still struggled getting shots I wanted to keep, and again I felt like: "Tripod.. VC!!! >.<"
Today is cloudy and grey.. I like the harsh sunlight actually, especially with random clouds; it helps, I feel, make the flowers stand more out.
Hoooweveeer.. Few insects are considerate/patient enough to wait for ME to fiddle with my settings for any given situation..
So yeah.. Maybe a ring-thingy would be neat ^^
Thanks for a great video! 🙂
But you can control the intensity of each light
Can I do a macro 35mm canon f2.8 + 68mm extension + diopter, or will that focus be so close that even a subject touching my lens will be too far away from the sensor? Is there a way to calculate this based on the mm and camera? I use a EOS 77D (9000D)
I didn’t see the link for the macro lenses..
So does a macro setting on a bridge camera.
just want to ask.. what lens do you used exactly for the macro shot…Sigma ???…
Thanks for teaching what 1:1 magnification really is.
