10 Reasons Why You Shouldn’t Go to Photography or Art School:
A initially learned photography as a kid shooting black & white then developing the photos in a dark room, that was a magical time and sparked my interest in photography. As I got older I dabbled in digital photography but wasn't until my kids were born that i really started to get an active interest back in it all.

You studied to cheat people in order to get a lot of money, this is indecent; I hope people realise about your business technic and not purchase any of your cheating cheapo products and your super overpriced workshops.
You can fool naive people and becoming rich🤑👍
i went to photography school, and it was BULLSH***T ….. I learned far more in the studio and darkroom etc etc etc.
WORKSHOPS!!!!
Good work Eric. Common sense man. You can always tell when someone has the guts to tell the truth. It offends morons and then those morons put disparaging comments on Youtube videos. Keep it up, we need more like you.
Thx you..
Dude you are wise beyond your years.
Totally agree with you on his topic. Don't ever borrow money to attend mediocre grad school. It is NOT worth the debt.
i agrre with you.
i went to art university 3yerars and essentially i didn´t learn anythingfor my artistiv evolution,,,the opposit was the case, theyßve tried to kill the individual evolution.
the only real valuable thing i´ve took away during this time, was the craft of drawing/painting.this was in private lessons outside the university.
So many haters here. I know what you're saying is the truth. The absolute truth. I'm a freelancer in a totally different space (web development) but I hear you on everything. Keep up the realness.
But you didn't need me to say that right?
I feel like you could learn faster and become more mature by not attending art school. Being freelance forces you to work your ass off and really persevere.
just as an aside, the 200k in debt thing is slightly flawed because its not like you can just borrow 200k as an 18 year old to do w/e you want. You can pretty much ONLY borrow that money to go to school with.
I went to art school in the UK. It was a fantastic experience and the end debt was around £10,000. Well worth it I think, but $200,000 I agree is insane
You've gained a lot of maturity down the line. Kudos to it
Congrats on the clickbait bullshit. Really strong content.
You talk like you are on drugs. Need to stop and talk about real street photography shit.
It's time to unsuscribe.
This is good video…I like it 😊👌📝 I hope your day was good. 😀👋
The problem is the US. It is such a stupid country, everyone in the EU can get free or cheap education. You can also organize it to let you work on the side.
I have a counterpoint for this argument. As a student currently enrolled in a community college as a fine art major, not in debt (yet) I believe that going to art/photography school is critical. Yes, we all know a degree is no replacement for actual social, entrepreneurial, and technical skill, however it is an excellent lift in obtaining a more secure career path. A few friends of mine are going to attend SVA (School of Visual Arts in NYC) next semester, both with partial scholarships of $45,000, and I can vouch that they are extremely talented artists. I think if you're given that much money to attend a top level school, it would be a waste to turn it down. As for my case, I love photography with a passion, however after speaking with numerous professors and advisers, the question of photography alone being a sustainable career is usually answered with a straight up No. I think that since photography and images and things like that are so ubiquitous now that EVERYONE with a smartphone/DSLR/Fuji X Thing claims to be a "Photographer", it is so crucial to differentiate yourself in an ocean of photos. I think that being a skilled photographer as well as an Artist is so important now. To me photography isn't enough. This is what so many companies, collectives, galleries, agencies are looking for now. However, if you're simply just not good, then you DEFINITELY should NOT go to art school to save yourself from inescapable debt.
Love the videos though, keep them coming.
could you make this lesson for non american? some of the cases you discuss here more or less doesn't applicable to non american
