Wedding Photography with Only Prime Lenses

20 63

Hey everyone! I filmed today’s video while I was in Tasmania getting ready to photograph a wedding. I wanted to show you all how I capture weddings using only prime lenses, flashes and flash triggers.

Here’s the video about all my lenses:

And I can’t wait to release my Tasmania travel vlog next Wednesday!

Just found this, and it's a great video. I do have a question though – how are you carrying all of those lenses around with you? Belt system? Bag? With all of the lens changes, how are you keeping everything with you?

Is there a link for the Straps??

Love the Against Me! band around your lens. Is that a sticker or a wristband?

    Your video is really helpful
    But DAMN it's expensive 🥺
    I mean seriously
Even without those 3 mark 3
All of those lenses can buy you a great house with lots of spaces to play with in my country
But nevertheless your video was amazing and helpful for me I was planning on buying a 24-70 f2.8

    But I've changed my mind
I will buy a 85mm prime along with 24mm prime or the 35mm prime

Do you prefer 24-35 f2 for weeding ceremony indoor n group shoot too?

Nice view on that Topic. i for myself am a hybrid. i like primes – but i also value zooms. and im not afraid to deliver ISO 12800 shots to my clients. They dont even noticed it yet.
but there's one thing i just dont get in your video… you say you love the primes for their light gathering capabilities. But then i see a lot of shots from the reception and party, and a lot of them seem stopped down significantly. on some it makes sense, because you needed more DoF, but in some other its to much for my feeling. so there is a bit of confusion now 😮

Which preset do you use the most for weddings?

You convinced me on buying a 35mm 1.4 sigma art lens!! 😁 And it would really be awesome to watch a behind the scenes shoot on one of your client's wedding in the future!! 🙌 Lots of love and support all the way from India!

I am curious about the reception and use of flash, do you use any modifiers? card? gary fong? to diffuse light a bit…or just bouncing…thanks!

How do you photograph a sparklers exit?

  14. Suddhasattwa Ganguly says

That was so detailed. Thank you so much

How are you shooting at 1.8 with multiple subjects on different focal planes? Wouldn't it be hard to get them in focus? Also where are you focusing at with multiple people? Pleaseeeeeee answerrrrrrrrr😬🙏🙏🙏

  16. Ahmad Aslam says

so you always switch lens and waste time. simply use 70-200 2.8 and 24-70

ONE OF THE PRIME REASON OF THE PICS BEING SO AWESOME IS THAT YOU ALL HAVE THE CEREMONY AT THE DAYTIME WHERE AS IN MY COUNTRY, INDIA, WE HAVE IT IN THE NIGHT TIME.. SO MOST PICS ARE FLASH/BOUNCE FLASH ORIENTED. AND HENCE THEY ARE NOT SO PLEASING TO THE EYES UNLESS WE HIRE AN EXPENSIVE PHOTOGRAPHER, WHO HAS ALL THOSE EXPENSIVE ACCESSORIES NEEDED TO MAKE IT LOOK AS NEAT AND PLEASANT AS POSSIBLE…. BTW, I HAVE LEARNT A LOT FROM YOUR VIDEOS…AND YOU ARE CUTE TOO!!!!😜😜 THANKS 😀😀😀

  19. Dennis Zamora says

Very informative. At apertures wide open, where do you focus when shooting multiple subjects who are not on the same focal plane? Thanks Julia!

  20. Andy Mckay says

This was super informative thank you!!!!😄 Quick question; I have a rogue flashbender – do you think it would be too big a set up when you're going for candids to have this attached to your flash?

Is the light bounce from the ceiling adequate? Sorry if this is a newbie question haha.
