How to take your own professional self portrait (headshot / selfie with a DSLR)
In this video I’m taking my own self portrait. I wanted some new headshots and I thought it would be fun to use some different backdrops and techniques. I used a creamy backdrop, a darker backdrop and back-lighting.

IMPORTANT
If you are interested in photographing newborn babies yourself I would highly recommend you to first learn about photography in general. Master you camera, photograph in the Manual mode, learn about aperture, iso, shutter speed, white balance, light and composition. Take photos of your friends (adults or very patient older kids) and make sure you don’t have to think about your camera anymore when photographing babies. Learn about editing as well. Please, don’t experiment photographing Newborn babies without training. Attend a workshop by an experienced and professional photographer with an expertise in Newborn Photography. Learn about the anatomy of babies and invest in good quality cameras, lenses and props. Babies are extremely vulnerable and small and their safety and comfort should be your highest priority. Start with simple poses and make sure you know and understand that many ‘pinterest poses’ are composites. Please, don’t try this at home. If you want beautiful photos of your own Newborn Baby, I highly recommend you to hire a professional and experienced photographer who is trained and specialised in Newborn Photography.

Hello Fenna, thank you for the video and for running your channel. I'm a fan and have watched pretty much all of your videos 😀 I am curious as to how you trigger the different brand speedlights. Are all your triggers the same brand? Or do you have to have the same brand trigger for each speedlight? And what about the one on the camera? Any chance you'd illuminate this process for me? I would love to understand multiple speedlight photography, and so far have not found a good resource to learn. Thank you for your time, and wishing you a great 2019.
Interessant! Kan je mij zeggen welke softbox je gebruikt en waar je het volledige achtergrondsysteem vandaan haalt (dus statief en de doeken)…. Groetjes uit België
Great video!👍🏾
I love your work, Fenna! easy, rewarding and motivator
Ok first of all this isn’t for your average consumer photographer. You have lots of light and high ceilings. You have an amazing studio. But everyone has this. Maybe if you do something for people who don’t have the luxury of a photography studio
Very helpful! Thank you!
Hi Fenna. Have you tried setting the background flashes to slave mode? You will only need one trigger then.
Hi Fenna! Thanks for you video, it's really helpful! I am staring photography as a hobby and I want to take my own portraits. The one thing that I can't figure out is how to make my camera focus automatically right before each shot it takes with the timer setting. (This is probably something that it's straight forward and easy to do, but looking at your video I wonder if you can help me). I have a Nikon D5600. Thanks!
I just can't make it work, its so frustrating, I try to have more time beetween shots but it going too fast, Im trying everything but nothing works, im changing time in timer shooting and I cant make it like in your video. its like click click click, without break 🙁
I love you work, basic, clean and pure
Thanks for this video, Fenna. Very enjoyable. Going to try this out today.
You're really beautiful. Nice pics
Hey fenna, koop je jou grote backdrops die je gebruikt voor familie portraits ook bij Ali?
Nice tips! You're adorable! Thanks a lot!
What background do you use? What kind of?
is your camera refocus themselves while you moving? how is it setup? xx
Zo gaaf! Echt heel mooi!
Love the video thank you for sharing! X
Well done. Liked how you got that setup.
What do you use for post-processing? Lightroom?
Great channel. I'm hoping to get mine up to par like yours soon (http://www.youtube.com/PhotographyIn123?sub_confirmation=1), but not there yet.

Awesome! Love your work!
Loved it. Wish I lived near you. I worked 10 years taking baby photos in a studio that was set up for me . I was able to take beautiful pictures but I never learned how to set up the can or lighting myself . I have bought 2 cameras nikon 3100 and nikon 3200. I try to take pictures but I have to use auto always because I just can't understand all the wonderful stuff these cameras can do. I am getting older and my knees are bad so taking photos is a challenge to stand up and do. I'm so glad I found you on you tube and I'm going to keep watching and hopefully I'll learn something . ….hahahahaha ! Thanks so much for being there!
Love it 😍 all you explain is so easy to understand. Great teacher.👍🏼😎 greetings from Costa Rica 🇨🇷 Central America.
This is epic😍😍😍
Thank you. Lovely! Where do you get your fabric backgrounds?
