Event Photography Tutorial 101: How to Shoot Events
In this video, I go over the mind and gear set of how to photograph events of any kind. The biggest goal is to make these long days INTERESTING. If you can expose an image, you can photograph and get through an event making a company or brand look more human.
I go over the gear and settings I use for most events as well.
As always “Keep an Eye Out!”

Thanks for the great advice. Do you shoot manual or Aperture/Shutter Priority for speed? I'm kinda new to this, hence the noob question.
Hi, saw your video it's wonderful i just wanted to know what is your shutter speed in event photography ? i understand your mention higher ISO , what i always confuse about the shutter setting. Thanks
really helpful
Do these tips apply for concert recaps as well?
Just noticed that you have heterochromia iridium, that's so nice! And very informative anyways! Thanks a lot!
Thank you so much! Subbed!
Thank you! I'm gonna have my first event tomorrow and this is enlightening!
I’m at a college student event…everyone seems so uncomfortable which makes me uncomfortable
About to cover my first event hope this will help..
should you / is it appropriate to include event photos in a portfolio or website without asking the company/organization involved?
Did I miss it or did he mention what kind of shutter speed he runs?
Good stuff
They also said they’ll pay me! And I’m just scared that they’ll pay me for photos they don’t really like, but they pay me out of courtesy! I don’t care about the money, I just want to at least take good photos before they think about paying me!
So this Sunday I have been asked to be a photographer at a 2 hour long special birthday party for a 100 year old lady, and I’m scared as heck because I have never done an event before and I feel like I’ll totally forget what I’m doing and mess up. I have the canon 700D with the 18-55mm lens which is pretty standard. I have taken plenty of good photos, but most of them are when I’m alone or with friends so I feel more relaxed but since this is an event there will be a lot of people and I’m afraid they’ll expect great photos from me and I’ll just panic and mess with the settings and not take any good shots!
This was very helpful for my school media photography thank youuu it was very informative
I hope you make more vids like this
I loved this video♥
