Imaging at a trillion frames per second | Ramesh Raskar

49 40

Ramesh Raskar presents femto-photography, a new type of imaging so fast it visualizes the world one trillion frames per second, so detailed it shows light itself in motion. This technology may someday be used to build cameras that can look “around” corners or see inside the body without X-rays.

TEDTalks is a daily video podcast of the best talks and performances from the TED Conference, where the world’s leading thinkers and doers give the talk of their lives in 18 minutes. Featured speakers have included Al Gore on climate change, Philippe Starck on design, Jill Bolte Taylor on observing her own stroke, Nicholas Negroponte on One Laptop per Child, Jane Goodall on chimpanzees, Bill Gates on malaria and mosquitoes, Pattie Maes on the “Sixth Sense” wearable tech, and “Lost” producer JJ Abrams on the allure of mystery. TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design, and TEDTalks cover these topics as well as science, business, development and the arts. Closed captions and translated subtitles in a variety of languages are now available on TED.com, at

All scientists thought light is EM wave or photon particle or both traveling in space at light speed. They are all wrong. There is no wave, no photon, nothing traveling in space at light speed. Energy jumps from matter to matter instantly, becomes light wave traveling in medium at light speed. Light speed in vacuum space is infinite. Therefore, relativity, QM and electromagnetism are all wrong.

By using MIT 10 trillion frame per second high speed camera, scientists can measure light speed in a vacuum glass bottle to prove light speed in vacuum is infinite. But they won't do it, because if the truth is out, they will be in big trouble.

Indians are well known for their SCAM and this is definitely one of them. At minute 2:06, surely knowledgeable people will know that it is PURE HOAX!
Just think of it like this. If you can see it then it means photons have traveled to your retina. SIMPLE sentence to expose Indian HOAX!

Starting from minute 2:06, you can definitely conclude that if the camera can see visible light, then photons have traveled to the camera. If you can see the table and bottle and water, then photons have already reached the camera SO MUCH FASTER before the glowing ball begin its journey. So it means that the speed of light is SUPER DUPER FASTER than the moving ball of glow from left to right. So it is definitely NOT light in slow motion! Whatever technology he used DID NOT capture light in slow motion (a billion frame per second)!

So it is NOT femto-photography! And finally, we can conclude that Indians are FULL of HOAX !!

I remember back when they said they couldn't photo a bullet OR a hummingbird's wings because both went too fast to capture. Now….we laugh at those things being not possible. Think in another 50 yrs. Oh…AOC said we'd be dead by then. Never mind.

We need to perform the double slit with femtophotography! Maybe then we can understand the paradox of light being a particle, a wave, or something else!

Is it possible to hook the 10 trillion frame per second camera to the most powerful electron microscope, that can see atoms, and observe the electrons orbiting the atoms? Hydrogen has one electron. Right? What if the nucleus was to look just like Earth? That would blow some minds and show intelligent design. Fractal geometry suggests (to me) such thoughts. Now, we may be able to look at the chaotic looking quantum fields and slow the process enough to make a map of a microcosm.

  36. Nunovia Gottdamnedbizzness says

Hmmm if we can develop even slower cameras, theoretically the light could be slowed down to the point where it may record not just that light at that point in time, but all all points of time in the space the image occupies. Basically we could take photo images of any point in time in the past.

So you could calibrate the cameras to capture a specific point in the past, say the Cruxification of Christ or a range of images from a specified range of times, say the life of the Prophet Mohammed and either completely verify the absolute truth of any historical point in time with a camera slowed to a certain speed.

    Interesting.
It can justify entire religious systems by capturing an. Image. If the Nativity of Jesus, or destroy entire religious cultures, by capturing an image of Mohammed eating a bacon cheeseburger with his homosexual liver.

    Sweet.

The technology is fantastic. The future is bright (dish-boom). Just think what we have to look forward to, just around the corner (dish-boom). And then at the end Ramesh Raskar asks us to focus (dish boom) on what is coming (dish-boom).

Mate. That was absolutely the funniest and most enjoyable TED-EX I have ever heard. Thanks a million, or should I say thanks at a Trillion per second (dish-boom).

  38. John H Fox says

I too just found this site, though I remember hearing about it some time ago. I'm surprised that there has so far been little impact in the use of this tech, that I have heard of. I notice people commenting that it is of limited use, and I fail to comprehend that reasoning.

Provided this really works as claimed, I can think of things to look for now. How about the cosmic background radiation? We might see variations indicating contact against another universe, substantially bolstering the multi verse theory.

Or we might analyze light from exoplanets to detect life signs and maybe even optical viewing. Or closer still, turn it on Mars and see if the refractive signatures indicate water, minerals, maybe even better viewing than a rover. The same with the moons of Jupiter.

There have been inventions lost before, maybe more than we could ever know. This shouldn't be one of them. Hope someone can breath some life into this, if only now for the sake of art. Art may get it noticed and lead to more.
