Question for Manny.
Where does your income come from to make a living, and if it are from photography/content creating? When did that start happening.
Thanks

Listen to MANNY..
I take my camera just about everywhere, and sometimes i am taking the same shots a different way.I do NOT listen to complaining, moaning, and little baby crying about camera weight, size, and limitations. You just hav rto choose a camera, give it 30 days, shoot, shoot, and shoot, and if you dont want it,just take it back, and get something else. You should know within 3 days if a camera is for you,and you will know, because you will NEED to use it all the time,if you love it.Do nOT listen to childish rants and stupid stuff about dumb names like 'fanboy',and dont even waste your time with such a petty, immature, chatty man.
Chances are,if someone is trolling online, being nosy, and making comments about what cameras people use, they probably suck at photography, and have a twisted, sick, immature mind.As far as having a beautiful woman by your side like Manny does,it's all about confidence, maturity, and being a MAN,not a whiny, insecure baby.Toxic people waste your time and energy, and in turn,if you continue to deal with them,it shows on you,and women can sense it.In fact,I am about to head to B&H,with my companion, and then her and i will find something else to do.Learn, and listen to great minds with simple, accurate,,sensible information, and then get outside, move your feet, and shoot…You are not going to get better talking about it and worrying about what grand camera others use.We have so many great cameras out there,no one has any excuse not to be at least decent,in camera…
Oh and Manny didnt contradict himself, because talent can be developed or just be there, and you can still learn, work hard, and get better.Just because you are a work in progress doesnt mean talent,it's a way to develop SKILLS,through practice and repetition.I make a living as a trainer /instructor,and although there's a level of talent, there's also constant practice to hone skills.Manny, dont stress any critics, because there's always going to be someone to argue and debate something everyone else apparently understood…………….
Inspirational and what a lot of people need to hear… us folk who are fumbling around with our cameras, wondering if this is just for fun or whether we could actually make a living out of it… either way, its so good to hear your experiences. And great to see you influenced by the same people who I have watched on YouTube for years – Kai, Gavin, Matt. That really brought it home to me.
great video
YOU REALLY MOTIVATED ME WHEN YOU SAID YOU BEEN WATCH YOUTUBE VIDEOS
FOR LONG LONG TIME…
WHAT A NICE VIDEO BROS THANKS A LOT
OMG!! i started at the same time with the same camera and watching the same fu…. chinese guy!!! And i think that my last photo shoots (2018) are the first shooting that i like …. i still with the same camera until i fell i can do good photos with it…. but a better camara and lens can make a big diference
Without watching the vid I can tell you right now the title is total BS!!! "Greatness" requires talent of some kind. If one becomes a "great" photographer it'll be because that person DEVELOPED talent somehow along the way. That's not saying one must START with talent, but attaining "greatness" without it is just a fairly tale.
Finally! I was saying it for years that a wedding photographer is actually just a loser that could not do anything right.
That is why these losers become wedding photographers.
And they think one does not have to have a talent to be a good photographer. It is really sad….
this vid makes my talentless ass feel better. thanks bruh
I agree and disagree. I agree with your 3 free points but saying 'great photographer' is a stretch. I would generally say you could become a decent to good photographer but to get to that great level, does take something special. I am a reasonably talented photographer, who would be considered good and that is because I know the technical ins and outs of the kind of photography I do, which is portraiture.
Lighting, camera handling, focal length, framing, posing (particularly hand) can be learnt but there are some things, which are more elusive. Just knowing the technical side of photography will only get you so far.
Being able to interact with your subject is one of the most important things about being a good portrait photographer and you can learn it over time but if yo haven't got a great personality it is incredibly hard. You come over as having great personality and able to interact with a model. That doesn't come naturally to every photographer, many come over shy and for others, the camera and thinking of the technical side of photography can become a barrier to interacting with the subjects.
Actual imagination is another thing, you can fake it to a point but coming up with great ideas, which make an image stand out to the pack, is a huge thing. If you look at photographers such as Kirsty Mitchell, she admits she isn't the most technical photographer but she has amazing imagination and knowledge in another area (fashion) which allows her to create amazing images. These, things can be learnt to a point but there is a final spark that make the good into great.
I am not saying it is impossible to get to the great level, without aptitude but it is exceptionally hard and often will take imagination beyond what youtube can tell, it takes confidence, ability to see and go through your own work flow and be prepared to change to be better.
With comparing yourself to other photographers, it can be a good thing as long as you look at their process more than the final image. How they create that image and then working out what works for you (because not everything works for everyone).
Then it is down to finding your own style to make you stand out. I don't want to be the next Joe Mcnally, I want to be the best of me but without putting the pressure on myself and accepting I can only be as good as I can be on a certain day and I will make mistakes.
And being able to make mistakes and accepting and moving on is another thing. Joe Mcnally is a great photographer but what I like most about him, is he admits he has made mistakes and will often refer to himself as 'numbnuts'. Very few people can create the perfect image straight away and accepting you will often completely screw it up, learn and be able to move on is massive.
The final thing I would say is to find someone who can critique your work honestly, will help beyond imagination. I got to a very stagnant point in my photography and then I joined the MPA (Master Photographers Association) after a recommendation from a friend. I started to enter the critiques and my work was often taken apart (particularly my editing) and that is an area I have been working on and there has been a real improvement in my final image.
Whilst I am at it joining a photographic organisation (though people need to be careful what they join from my experience) and being around really good photographers is a another way of getting really motivated. Seeing others great work and being inspired and moving forward.
Well that has turned into a bit of a rant. Sorry about that.
Thanks for that, I'm in your situation and practicing to be a real estate photographer. Your words encouraged me.
saludo manny, espero que haga video en español o por los menos subtitulados para los que no hablamos ingles, porque realmente son muy buenos video pero en ingles no podemos comprender al máximo. creo lo que eres latino por tu nombre
