What to Wear, Reception, Bridal Shower, Engagement Photos, and Rehearsal Dinner. You asked and we are here to give you some guidelines and ideas. We aren’t fashionistas but can help guide you in what to wear.
Reception: First of all, you do not have to change your dress! But if you want to, here are few suggestions! There are no rules, so you could have two stunning gowns From a formal gown to a less formal dress Fun pantsuit or jumpsuit Options for jewelry: wear the same as the ceremony or change it up If you are wearing a two-piece wedding gown you could just change the bottom Dancing shoes!!! Bridal Shower: Where is the shower taking place? Once that is decided then you can get into what to wear. It’s less formal than your rehearsal dinner but probably a little more conservative than your bachelorette Something similar to your wedding dress, maybe a shorter style Jumpsuit Cream or white is totally acceptable You are the star of the party, look it Formal/ Traditional Classic and elegant wear Gown to pantsuit Casual Strappy fun sandals for the summer/spring Fun flouncy dress or skirt Engagement Photos: Be yourself, you don’t have to be in formal wear Wear something that you don’t have to worry over the whole time, meaning something you know you look good in not just something out of a magazine. Dress in the same level, don’t wear a ball gown if he’s wearing cargo shorts Coordinate, but you don’t have to be twining Dress to blend or fit your shooting location(s) Tight fitting might not be your best friend esp for photos Either hire a makeup/hair artist or plan your photo shoot on the day of your practice run From GSquared:
Avoid the black & khaki, white & jeans. Get more creative. Jewelry is good. Color is good, so are patterns – just make sure they don’t clash. Wear shoes that are clean, and that you like. They will show in a lot of the photos. If you really want to wear a hat, bring it with you, but don’t put it on right away Don’t tan within 3 days of your session, and if you spray tan, go light Pinterest Board
Rehearsal Dinner: First, consider where the rehearsal will be taking place Remember you are allowed to look better than everyone else 🙂 Try going with an outfit opposite or very different from what your dress will be If you want to go super trendy, do it Steer clear from white unless you must You could even go with a fun theme ***LISTENER QUESTION*** Hello,
I have been listening to your podcast for a while now and absolutely love it! You have so many wonderful ideas and tips!
My Fiance and I got engaged in August of 2017 during the totality of the great American solar eclipse! We figured since the engagement had a “space theme it would be perfect to carry that over into the wedding! Our wedding theme is space/starry night!
When I began the wedding planning process I started looking up theme ideas for the wedding and noticed a common occurrence; they all looked more like a prom than a wedding. My question for you is what can I do (with my color scheme, decorations, flowers, etc.) to have a wedding that looks elegant instead of like a cheap prom?
Thanks for the help!
There are some great ideas on Pinterest. The color palettes for these are awesome. Midnight blue and golds; black, purple, fuchsia, plus the different themes you can use- constellations, To the moon and back. It can be elegant and not promise. I did a Pinterest page for space themed weddings.
