For $279.00 each these are expensive for cheaply manufactured speedlites. The LCD display and the way you changed from master enabled to disabled was proof of cheaply made. For $249.00 Canon's 430 ex rt iii can be used as a master or slave in ettl radio or optical and will last a lifetime. I use 4 600 ex ii rt's and 2 430 ex iii rt's along with the st e3 rt. Will never use third party items of any type. MY TIME DOWN MEANS MONEY LOST.

Hi Joe, Thanks for the video lessons you do for all of us. This video was made in 2015 – over 3 years ago and I know you enjoy being a spokesperson for Photix who make pretty good products. But 3 years have gone by since you did this and there still is not a
TTL compatible flash or remote trigger made for the Fuji X cameras. Godox and Nisson have supported Fuji almost from the beginning. If you have an influence on Photix which I assume you do then how about having them wake up and support a popular brand like Fuji. Believe it or not they are losing business not only for their flash systems but for everything else that they could be selling to Fuji users whether it be Fuji GFX users or X users.

Folks… use your brain! Ye can shoot in full manual full auto or tourist mode full in speed full in apres ski or tv and any mode ye wissssh…. just use your brain and try it – dont cry if yeve spent money or all savings…. use ye brain!

Colors for umbrellas – I would suggest sticking with white and silver. If you want color, simply use a gel on your speedlight/strobes.

Sorry but this is more about selling the brand name than a tutorial. You were the reason why I purchased the PocketWizard for Nikon and the Sekonic l-758DR but this time I am not "buying" it.

Hello Joe: Thanks so much for the informative tutorial. I am just learning about flash photography having purchased my first speed light several months ago, and more recently, snagging two additional used speed lights (because it would take me forever to have money to invest in studio strobes). So…at the risk of asking a 'duh' question, I'm trying to wrap my head around adjusting the power on your speed light(s)…while in TTL mode, as opposed to Manual flash mode. Isn't the idea behind TTL that it decides the flash power for you? I'm obviously not clear on it, but can you be in TTL mode and still adjust the flash power on your speed lights? A bit 'in the dark' on that still… :-))

To the idiots here, please watch the video again. He NEVER said that he switched over to using TTL. What he did say was that he got some questions about it and decided to do a video to show that you can get some decent results using TTL. For f**k's sake, understand what's going on in a video before you spout shit all over a good tutorial.

Thanks for this tutorial video Joe, it was very interesting and enjoyable, lovely model too. I think TTL is a great and easy alternative to manual flash in hectic situations, a lifesaver too. And if doing a little advertising of the product means we can get to see free tutorial videos of this calibre then count me in!
To everyone who commented about me using TTL when I'm primarily a full manual shooter, please understand why I did this video! I am still a full manual shooter but have had many people ask me about TTL. I did this to show how it can be used and for some people, they feel that TTL is the way to go.
I still don't feel that way but I am well versed enough to show how it works and how it can be used. I have started using the Phottix triggers on my Sony cameras simply because they currently offer the same capabilities and quality for less money. I also love the quality of their speedlights, but I personally don't use any of the TTL capabilities in my own shooting. I don't plan on doing much with TTL in the future so don't expect to see me switching over!

The Nikon CLS has been doing this for years now, but they use the terms "Commander" and "Remote".
Nothing wrong with doing a video for TTL people, but I think you need to address the contradiction with previous videos if you're not to be perceived as a sell out. I'm personally going to give you the benefit of the doubt, but it doesn't look great. New brand, suddenly a new philosophy.

I've been watching your videos saying that the best way is light meter and pocket wizards and i have now spent all of my savings on these items. Now i come across this video saying the opposite. seems to me you will say what ever makes you the most money…
Was that a strip box at the end? How did you mount your speedlight?
After watching all the webinars you did telling everyone use manual flash off camera with Pocket Wizards and Sekonic light meters was the only way to go to get proper exposure, how can we believe anything you are pitching now.
