Thank you so much. Your videos are so informative. I have learned so much from you. 😊
This are very helpful! Thanks!
Great video! I love every minute of it
You should have putting wedding in the title. Completely useless to me.
a great thing you could do is, optimize your descriptions. summing down the entire video in points
How far in advance should a person book and pay deposit?
I love your energy
Anyone else here in 2019 😂
This was incredible helpful and wrote great notes
Hi Jessica, about the contract do you have any example to know how to do one? Saludos desde Argentina
hi jessica, you are so cute!! 🙂
You’ve really educated me! You’re definitely one of my favorite youtubers forever! Lol
“Why, why did you do that?”
“Because you have her the pictures!”
….😭😭😭😂
Thank you 🙂
Have you changed the amount of images included in your packages since you've made this video? Going in to 2019 I'm not raising my prices I'm including less high res retouched images for my modeling and senior portraits. In 2019 I'm basing my modeling and senior portrait packages on what I get for 1 retouched business/corporate headshot (149.00) for an individual. If you think about this, it's totally reasonable considering how much time goes into retouching. I used to include 40 retouched images in my modeling packages. Then I lowered it to 30. Now since I've become busier, I'm lowering the number of images included in the package to 15 retouched images from a multi outfit model portfolio photoshoot. They will still get to view a proof gallery of around 80-100 images but they will have to select their portfolio images to be retouched. My daughter and I came to the conclusion that models don't need anymore than 3-4 images from each clothing look is how I came to my reduced model portfolio package of 15 high res retouched images with a release. Also I'm changing the terms of my release since my images ended up in Seventeen Magazine in a story and on a billboard in Times Square. Had no idea that would happen from a model portfolio photoshoot. Not to mention all these other new digital fashion magazines that ask models and or their momagers to submit images to be in their "magazine". Model portfolio images usuages are going way beyond their model portfolios or modeling agency websites. All those "magazines" want to get their hands on high quality images.
Thanks so much
Omggg Theo James is my celebrity crush too 😍
Hey Jessica, do you think its okay if I edit/retouch the images with a mobile app like snap seed/lightroom mobile as opposed to the desktop version of light room. Im just starting out with one on one portraits, also do I have to charge for prints or can I simply email them the photo?
Where do you make your prints?
Can you talk about the business aspect of being a professional photographer? Copyrights, paperwork, etc. Thanks!
How , Where and when do you pay your second shooter?
Thank you for this video its helping me out sooo much
î have watched some of your vids this morning. normally i get very restless watching vids longer than, lets say, 7 mintues … i have watched your vids till the very end and i am still not bored and/or irritated … you know why ? because your are cute. you are natural. you are authentic. and you are good ! thank you for you, dear, keep going !
New comment! Do you require clients to pay the deposit BEFORE meeting them in person or AFTER? I'm having trouble figuring it out for myself…If they need to sign the contract in person and pay the deposit, can the payment come prior to signing the contract or should it come after? Thanks so much!!!
Anyone reading this in 2018, these prices she named are SUPERRR low. I think Jessica would agree that the advice here she gave is amazing but what she charges is outdated. If you charge only $200 for a wedding even if it's your lowest priced package people will not take you seriously. Hopefully she can comment an update of what her prices are now.
150 for wedding package isn't that too low?
Hello Jessica! Love your work. What site can I use to send my clients their proofs??
Do you edit the proofs you give them?
Very helpful! Pricing is very intimidating especially when starting out. Thank you!
I’m in high school right now I’m using my Sony A7II for photography. The lenses that I use are 55mm f1.8 Zeis, 24-70 f4 g master lenses. I’m pricing my photography for about 20$ that’s it they can ask me for how many pictures they want I don’t mind unless if they let me test some of their photos and post it online without copyright.
I have been doing trade and giving stuff away free for the longest time. That has to stop and this is a great information. I need to start getting paid for the time I am putting into this.
Thanks, always cool to hear what others do. I've been shooting fashion/glamour professionally for 15 years, I'll share what I do which has worked very well for me the past 5 years I have been doing it. My pricing is real easy, I dont have set rates. When someone contacts me regarding a shoot, I always ask what their budget is. I do this for two reasons. Lets say you have a newer model who really loves your work and is willing to pay a lot for it and you have posted rates for two looks for like $400 and thats what you advertise. What if that model would have paid double that for your work? You've just shot yourself in the foot and cost yourself a good deal of money by advertising your rates. Second reason I never post rates is because I am certainly not going to charge a legitimate model who can add to my portfolio and increase my social media presence what I would charge the random girl who got some cute outfits she wants to show off on Facebook. I am going to work within that models budget for sure and posting a set rate more than she's willing to pay scares her off. Same goes for weddings, why advertise $1k when you may have someone who is in love with your work who is willing to pay double that? My suggestion is never, ever post a set rate. I put "contact me for rates and availability" wherever I advertise my work.
Hey I think you need to updated your Website because it isn't working
What do you think about Shootproof and their lab services?
Baby photography? Birthday Parties?
I appreciate the advice. I totally agree with everything you are saying. Thank you.

listened to the whole video while editing 🙂 you helped me really out with pricing and these little pychological tricks like the price at the bottom of the list etc.
You are kick ass!! you are like seriously the first photographer that I watched on YouTube that has actually talked about what I wanted to really understand what I wanted to know I thank you for sharing appreciate the free knowledge and I wish you the best in the future!
Have you done a video about copyright yet? (I'm new to your channel :3) I'm just starting out with photography and I want to do photography locally, (I have a website and everything in progress) but I don't know how I should claim my work. I know it's not the best idea to just put my stuff out there without any copyright or claims, but I have no experience in this kind of stuff yet XD !! panic I just really don't know much about copyright yet. (ALSO your website is actualllyy goalllsss you're my inspiration rnnn)
This was wonderful! I took notes and I now have a clear game plan. Thanks so much!
