Behind the Scenes with Matt Hernandez: Dramatic Senior Portraits
Talented portrait photographer Matt Hernandez takes viewers behind-the-scenes of this epic senior portrait photo shoot with a swimmer and the Zeppelin Deep Parabolic. By utilizing the Zeppelin’s broad light output, Matt is able to precisely illuminate his subject and surroundings without directing light on the entire set. Matt pairs the Zeppelin’s light with gelled speedlites to create some truly amazing senior portraits. To learn more about the Zeppelin Deep Parabolic, please visit
Man.. those shots are chingones!! Saludos!!
Nice work MH.
I'll finish my comment when my jaw comes back online …;)
Very creative ideas and great executed. The portrait with the splashing water and the blue rim lights is crazy awesome! Thanks for the inspiration!
Insanely awesome!!!
Why not mention and explain the use of the two blue rim lights in the back? They make the photos pop, not the keylight. Ignoring them, because they don't have a Westcott modifier is lame. I for one am curious what material you put over them and where you bought it.
Great work sir. Truley inspired. Could you share what remote strobe/flash setup your using? Also would the same setup work with day and evening outdoor shoots.
you rock my man…thank you so much for sharing!
Ballzy to get into the pool with you camera.
I like your creativity. Would love to learn some of your techniques.
Awesome work Matt , when I saw the shots I was amazed … Looks like SI !

Wow, awesome shots. I started watching these videos when I picked up a Westcott Rapid Box. I'm just a hobbyist but this piece of gear has changed the way I approach shooting indoors and out. These videos have lots of great tips, thanks
That last shot with subject diving was killer!!! Great job.

Great image set. I would have been interested to see more of there overall light set ups, such as the rim lights that were used and what modifiers (if any) were used to compliment the Zeppelin

I'm going back to high school just so Matt Hernandez can take my senior pics…Todd Ferren who?
