I recently picked up a compact camera for street photography. I wanted something which could fit in my pocket and go with me everyday, no excuses. I chose the Ricoh GR II. In this video, which I shot while sitting in a hotel room on a recent rainy afternoon in Amsterdam, I share my reasons why, and what this little camera is teaching me.

Excellent.
Over 3 min in and your still talking about your bag and the A73 – thought this was about the GR2
Great video! I love that coat 👍🏼
Sean, since you love street photography, have you ever considered shooting on a TLR?
Can u pls spell the app when you were with your iPhone(for framing)?
These guys can transfer jpeg and raw wirelessly while big boy Fuji can’t manage raw wirelessly? Come onnnn
Yes please for the day-bag contents 😀
I heard this camera is a dust magnet and then requires a very expensive service to clean!
This, all of it, it was the GR line has always been for. Welcome. 🙂 Cheers
Some shots as examples and video specs are needed.
My EOS M50 + EF-M 22mm is the camera I opted to replace my X100S (or GRII fantasies).
By the way, getting older and better at photography made me go wider too. I also prefer 35mm for general purpose but I sometimes challenge myself doing stuff like one day one lens, or manual focus film camera with our without light meter to keep the skills I acquired 30y ago alive, to maintain our improve my photographic and creative view of different scenes. And yes, shooting the Notting Hill carnival with a Leica M6 or street photography with a 17mm is challenging to say the least especially when you could get similar or better results with my Canon EOS 3, a digital SLR or a 35mm/24-70mm lenses which are my favourite focal lengths… And it can be frustrating to miss shots, to realise that you didn't change your settings while entering the shade and your hit rate goes down significantly but I also get really great pictures doing that and when I grab my DSLR or my M50, I am so much better than if I didn't challenge myself from times to times.
I love Darkroom! … not sure how long you‘ve been on Android now, but they added an amazing border/frame section into Darkroom which has some smart features as well. And it‘s also finally optimized for iPad. Darkroom is one of those great apps that keeps getting better, 100% worth it.
Wow… I have my Ricoh GRii for 1 week now and I'm so happy to have bought it. Shooting was never this fun and the quality is reeeealy dope for the size.
Spot AF function: please Fujifilm make one option choice. ON, memorize the position of pointer, wherever it is after switching off; OFF always Start the cameraa make the pointer in the middle of screen.
Common Sense Photography presented with a Zen Philosophy….Excellent.
Many thanks Sean ….. I agree with you totally! I am out to buy, as it will be with Park Cameras in a couple of weeks, the new Ricoh GRIII. Basically, to have camera with my that goes beyond the capabilities of iPhone 8+.
Great Video. Which Android phone are you using in the video?
What an inspiration you are always Sean, thank you….
I've had the same experience with the X100F. Take it with me EVERYWHERE and absolutely love it. Good to hear your thoughts, Sean.
